How it all started

In the heart of Dos Torres, a quaint town nestled north of Cordoba (Spain), a story began to unfold as the 1940s drew to a close. It was a time shadowed by the aftermath of a relentless civil war, a period marked by scarcity and hardship. Yet, amidst these trying times, my grandfather found solace and sustenance in a small piece of land and the steadfast companionship of a mule. Together, they toiled the fields, a testament to resilience and the will to provide for the family.

This very mule, a silent witness to struggle and perseverance, became the catalyst for a journey into the world of leatherwork. A small shed next to the countryside home transformed into a sanctuary of craftsmanship. It was here, amidst the leather tools worn by time and toil, that my grandfather honed his skill, learning to mend and care for leather with an artisan's touch.

My grandfather's journey took a pivotal turn when he emigrated with his family to Elche, immersing himself in the thriving footwear industry, yet his heart remained tied to the art of leatherwork. Summers spent in his old workshop became my sanctuary, where I, a child with small hands but an eager spirit, learned the ancient craft under his watchful eye. He taught me to blend oils and waxes, crafting natural leather care products that left the air thick with an intoxicating, unforgettable scent—a blend of olive oil, beeswax, and the rich, earthy aroma of naturally tanned leather.

Years later, it was my turn to step into that humble workshop, a child wide-eyed with wonder. Forty years on from that pivotal encounter, amidst the frenetic pace of an industry ever racing towards the next innovation, I found myself at a crossroads. The relentless advancement, often devoid of direction or soul, left me yearning for meaning, for purpose.

It was in this moment of reflection that I made a profound decision—a vow to abandon the unfulfilling and embrace my true passion.
